As Vice President of Global Sales Operations for IBM Global Technology Services, Ms. Mitchell leads the worldwide sales operations community for IBM’s consulting and services organization. Ms. Mitchell is responsible for worldwide sales coverage strategy, professional development, incentive planning and sales operations and, in this capacity, is chairman of the Global Sales Operations Council for IBM Global Services. 

Prior to her present position, Ms. Mitchell was Vice President of Global Customer Relationship Consulting for IBM Global Services and was responsible for IBM’s efforts to help clients gain a strategic competitive advantage through enhanced customer relationships.  Leading a worldwide group of consultants and service professionals, Ms. Mitchell worked with clients to help them improve customer loyalty and establish competitive differentiation. Since joining IBM in 1974, Ms. Mitchell has held various sales and marketing positions including Director of Sales and Marketing for the IBM Mid-Atlantic area and Manager of Large Systems Sales for IBM United States. 

A respected speaker at industry events and conferences, Ms. Mitchell has addressed numerous groups, including the American Marketing Association, the Conference Board and the U.S State Department sponsored Women’s Business Leaders Summit in Amman, Jordan on the topics of leadership, competitive differentiation and strategic planning. She has been recognized for her leadership in developing and executing strategic plans for both commercial and nonprofit organizations, and for her expertise in the area of women’s leadership and philanthropy.   

In 2002, Ms. Mitchell was inducted into the Circle of Excellence after being named as one of the “Top 100 Women in Maryland” in 1998, 2000, and 2002.  Ms. Mitchell is a recipient of the President’s Medal from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, the Girl Scouts of Central Maryland Distinguished Woman Award, and the United Way of Maryland’s 2007 Clementine Peterson Award for volunteerism. 

Ms. Mitchell holds a degree in education from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland, where she serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and chaired the Legacy of Leadership Capital Campaign.  Ms. Mitchell is a member of the board of the United Way of Central Maryland and is the 2007 national chairman of the Women’s Leadership Council for the United Way of America. She is also past chairman of the board of the Maryvale Preparatory School, a member of the board and chair of the compensation committee of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, a member of the board and chair of the marketing committee of the Center Club, and a Governing Member of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.  Ms. Mitchell is a member of the Maryland Governor’s Workforce Investment Board, a member of the Maryland Advisory Board of SunTrust Bank, and a member of the Board of Directors of KCI Technologies, Inc where she serves as chair of the governance committee.
